Submit an application by mail

Using a certified courier or traceable mail service can reduce the delivery time of your application and help protect your documents.

Submit an application in person

If you submit your application in person, you should do so yourself. If this is not possible, it may be submitted in person by an acceptable third party. You must be 16 years of age or older to submit an application in person.

Passport delivery or pick-up

Once it’s ready, the passport (and any original documentation you submitted) will be returned to you by traceable mail - unless you applied in person at a Passport Canada office and made pick-up arrangements when you applied (extra fees apply). A third party may pick up the passport in person on behalf of the applicant if written authorization from the applicant is provided.

Avoid delays!

Make sure your application includes all of the following:

An official translation in English or French must be provided with any documents that are written in another language.
