Submit an application by mail
Government of Canada offices in the United States do not provide regular passport services. Applications sent by mail must be sent to our Gatineau office in Canada. Using a certified courier or traceable mail service can reduce the delivery time of your application and help protect your documents.

Delivery of your passport
Applications submitted by mail or courier: The passport will be sent to your address in the US by private courier service from Passport Canada in Gatineau, Quebec.
Applications submitted in Canada: If you submit the application in Canada by mail or at a passport service location, it will be delivered to your address in the US by private courier service.
Applications submitted in person at a Passport Canada office: When you apply at a Passport Canada office, you may select either to have the passport delivered to your address in the US by private courier service OR to pick up the passport at the same Passport Canada office (extra fees apply). You must choose pick-up or delivery at the time of submission. A third party cannot pick up the passport on your behalf.
- Picking up a child’s passport: If you are picking up the passport in person, the child must be present.
