Submit an application
Please contact the nearest Government of Canada passport issuing office in the country where you are residing or visiting to find out how to submit an applicationFootnote 1.
- You must be 16 years of age or older to submit an application in person.
- When you submit a child's passport application, we strongly recommend that both parents and the child be present.
Passport delivery or pick-up
The Government of Canada passport issuing office where you applied will advise you on how to pick up your passport or have it delivered.
- An acceptable third party may pick up a child’s passport in place of the applicant (the person applying on behalf of the child) if written authorization from the applicant is provided.
While in Canada
While in Canada, you may apply for a passport in person at a Passport Canada office. In this case, you will be required to pick up the passport in person once it’s ready. If you do not appear in person, the passport will not be released or mailed to you and you will not be refunded.
- If the application is for a child, the child must be present at the time of pick up.
Avoid delays!
Make sure your application includes all of the following:
- a complete application form, signed on all pages;
- a proof of Canadian citizenship,
- document to support identity,
- two photos, one of which is signed by the fees, and
- any valid Canadian travel document.
An official translation in English or French must be provided with any documents that are written in another language.
